Solidarity with the Workers of France and Their Strike on September 18 The All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU) stands in full solidarity with the workers of France and their unions, who are going on strike and mobilizing on September 18 against the latest anti-labour measures introduced by the French government.
This plan includes the freezing of pensions and social benefits, cuts in public sector jobs, new counter-reforms to the social security and unemployment benefit systems, increased taxes on workers, higher out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and even the abolition of public holidays and the fifth week of paid leave.
Workers across the world face similar attacks : the erosion of fixed working hours, the imposition of 13-hour workdays, forced “flexibility,” and cuts to essential public services like healthcare, education, and social security.
From Pakistan to France, and around the world, we unite in our common struggles against the monopolies and the governments that serve them. We fight for wage increases, strong collective agreements, and improved working conditions. We reject the demands of the IMF, World Bank, and NATO, and we say : the people must not pay for their crises or wars !
We reaffirm our international solidarity with all peoples suffering from imperialist aggression —especially with the people of Palestine. We support their just struggle to end genocide and occupation and to establish an independent state.
Let us build a united front to overthrow the barbaric capitalist system that breeds poverty, war, and forced migration.
